The Visual Poetry of Nantucket Landscapes
Friday, July 27, 5:30–7:30 pm
Having grown up spending summers on the island, Michael J Moore
returns to share is wonderful paintings with gallery guests. His artwork has a way to capturing the instantaneous Nantucket moment, the play of light on the moors or the pale sky just before the sun dips below the sea, that make this faraway land so special to all of us. The magic of Nantucket is something felt, difficult to explain, but as they say, pictures are worth a thousand words and Michael Moore has an innate, genuine mastery of these landscapes.
An Evening with Artists: Cindy Pease Roe
Upsculpting with Seabirds to Protect Our Waters
Friday, August 10, 5:00–7:30 pm
Cindy Pease Roe
has a knack for using her creative talent to share the power and impact of art. Her concept of “Upsculpting” is, as Susan says, “a whimsical way to get a serious message across.” Collecting marine debris from multiple coastal locations, Cindy then creates truly captivating sculptures of marine creatures, this time sharing her seabird series. Cindy will be on island for an artist residency with Maria Mitchell Association and we are so excited for her to give and talk and exhibit her art at the gallery for a night!
